Inquiry Packaging. – Geometry and Measurement

This afternoon after a few reminders and advice about our home inquiry (including how to create product labels)
We looked at Nets (geometry and measurement)

I am encouraging students to create their own containers for their product. Today I wanted them to learn a few mathematical concepts as well as think about packet ideas.

The task was to create a 10cm x 10cm x 10cm  cube (container)

If correctly constructed, with accurate measurements the container should hold 1 litre of water
Volume,  Capacity and Weight
·       10 x 10 x 10  = 1000cm3    (10 cubed)
·       1000cm=   1000ml
·       1000ml = 1L
·       1000ml of water = 1000gms  (1 Kg)

We then tested our containers to confirm the above measurement facts.
