Character writing, identity and kiwi culture.

Our writing focus is Character Writing, which fits nicely into our current topic. Thinking about identity and the characteristic that make up an individual.

We are having an exciting time and everyone is extremely motivated.

We started the unit last week with a Roald Dahl story ‘The Hitch Hiker’

Roald Dahl is the master of creating characters. 

We discussed and created the criteria for an effective character description. We brainstormed features; we discussed actions and ‘consistency of character’. We explored vocabulary choice and started thinking about creating our own hitch hiker (adding a little kiwi culture as we go)
